Walmart Recalls Finger-Snipping Chair and Table Set

WASHINGTON - Walmart has recalled the Mainstays card table sets after receiving 10 reports of injuries from collapsing chairs, including one report of a finger amputation and three reports of finger tip amputations.

Walmart Recalls Finger-Snipping Chair and Table Set The company instructs customers to return the black-padded metal folding table and four folding chair set for a full refund. The voluntary recall involves approximately 73,400 units sold from May to November of last year for about $50, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The card table set was made by Dongguan Shin Din Metal & Plastic Products Co. of China or by Shin Yeh Enterprises of Taiwan.

In addition to amputations, customers complained of sustaining sprained or fractured fingers and one reported a sore back.

Last January, Walmart pledged to source more products, including furniture, from U.S. manufacturers.
