GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Universal Forest Products has purchased the assets of Idaho-based Rapid Wood Mfg., which supplies lumber products for manufactured housing.

“This is a good opportunity to establish a manufacturing and sales presence in Idaho, bringing us closer to some of our valued customers and expanding the strong capabilities of our organization in a growing market,” said Universal CEO Matthew J. Missad.

Universal, founded in 1955, has subsidiaries that supply wood, wood composite and other products to the retail, construction and industrial markets. The company's Western division purchased Dallas,TX-based wood and packaging solutions manufacturer Bigs Packaging and Lumber.
