HIGH POINT, NC – Eastman Perennial Wood is the common denominator of furnishings crafted by 12 furniture design students from Appalachian State University being showcased at the Spring High Point Market.

Student-Made Perennial Wood Furniture Displayed in High PointThe 12 students are all finalists in the Perennial Wood Appalachian State Design Studio, a competition sponsored by Eastman.

Eastman said Perennial Wood is solid wood that has been modified to "compete with hardwoods, rivaling teak in both beauty and performance." The modification helps protect the wood against rot, decay and movement, according to Eastman.

“We collaborated with Appalachian State because they have a strong furniture design program,” said Brant Mitchell, market development manager for Perennial Wood. “The students’ enthusiasm, talent and creativity have exceeded our expectations. These students and the designs they created are important conduits for illustrating what’s possible with Perennial Wood.”

The finalists’ furniture is on display at High Point Market Week, April 21-26 in the Suites at Market Square, #1-828 (third floor). Market attendees can cast votes live for the Peoples Choice Award, while others may vote through social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Check out all of the Perennial Wood student designs here.

Winners will be announced next week and showcased at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, May 19-22 in New York.
