TEUTOPOLIS, IL - Stevens Industries purchased rights to produce Techline USA-branded commercial casework following an April 9 announcement by Techline that it would close its Waunakee, WI plant June 9, eliminating 93 jobs. Techline issued a WARN notice 60 days in advance of its intended layoffs, as required by law.
Teutopolis, IL-based Stevens Industries manufactures laminate and veneer commercial casework for the educational and healthcare markets. Also an OEM supplier of laminated panels and components to companies in the office furniture, store fixture, cabinet and closet industries, Stevens Industries has supplied Techline with raw materials for more than 13 years.
|Techline Case for Mass Customization
Stevens President Todd Wegman said the company is working with Techline's management for a seamless transition. "Techline has provided a reliable product for customers and we intend to build the product brand and grow the product line," Wegman said.
Techline, founded in the 1960s by Marshal Erdman, specializes in laminate casework for the healthcare, office and educational markets. A new Techline headquarters will be based in Madison, WI, while also providing sales, estimating, drafting and project management support. Customers will also have available products from Stevens' line.
Manufacturing will be performed at Stevens Industries' 430,000-square-foot facility. Founded in 1956, Stevens Industries has received recognition for its lean manufacturing of mass customized cabinetry and components.
