Smart Cabinetry Plans $11.4M Renovation, Add 75 WorkersNEW PARIS, IN – Smart Cabinetry has announced plans to expand its cabinet manufacturing operations, creating up to 75 more jobs in the New Paris, IN, area by 2016. The company currently has more than 100 employees.

The kitchen cabinet and bathroom vanity manufacturer said the $11.4 million renovation includes the addition of manufacturing, finishing and assembly lines at the 169,000-square-foot facility. Those lines are expected to be in place by 2015.

Smart LLC, dba Smart Cabinetry, was founded in 2004. The company’s lines of kitchen cabinets are used in multi-unit buildings, including: apartments, condominiums, hospitality, assisted living and senior living complexes, and are sold nationwide through a network of retailers, distributors and wholesalers. A sustainable manufacturer, Smart’s cabinets are certified under the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Assn.’s (KCMA) Environmental Stewardship Program, and meet KCMA/ANSI standards for quality and structural integrity.

“With markets getting stronger and our nations outlook brighter, Smart believes its growth in market share will continue but is only facilitated and achievable by an excellent available labor force and Indiana’s business-friendly environment which when combined gives us the confidence to make the commitment to move,” Smart President and COO Kirk Barron said in a statement. “We look forward to working with both state and local governments to create jobs and continue the momentum we started three years ago.”

According to a news release, the Indiana Economic Development Corp. will provide Smart up to $600,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. Additional tax abatements may be considered by Elkhart County, according to the release by the IEDC.
