DUSSELDORF, GERMANY – The European Pallet Association saw 66.3 million wooden pallets produced in 2014, a 3 percent increase in wooden pallet production over the previous year.
In addition to the increase in production, the number of repaired EPAL pallets increased slightly to 22.4 million, over 22.3 million in 2013.
2014 is the first complete calendar year in which EPAL has been granting licenses for the production of Euro pallets marked exclusively with the “EPAL in oval” brand, after production of one-brand pallets started on Aug. 1, 2013.
In addition to very good results in Europe, EPAL has seen strong growth in Hungary and the Czech Republic. The association reported a 50 percent growth in China last year.
In 2014 EPAL introduced a half pallet, which is made of wood and steel brackets and is capable of being accessed on all four sides by forklifts and other lifting equipment.
