MIRA LOMA, CA—RSI Professional Cabinet Solutions caps off a busy year's worth of activity with the the completion of a plant expansion at its Mira Loma, CA, facility. The cabinet manufacturer said the 50,000-square-foot expansion and plant redesign will enable it to more than double the output of its European-style, frameless cabinetry.

“This expansion is driven by rapidly increasing demand from our customers to supply frameless cabinetry in new home developments and remodeling projects,” said Eric VanDerHeyden, president, builder sales and services at RSI Professional Cabinet Solutions (RSI PCS). “The cabinet industry, particularly in the west, is in need of additional capacity and this investment ensures we can continue to improve our execution, streamline production and supply high quality frameless cabinets at attainable price points.”

Along with the expansion, company said it also implemented lean manufacturing techniques, including just-in-time processing and the Kanban replenishment system, to streamline production. RSI also invested in new equipment for added component production.

“This implementation allows us to produce a higher quality product in a safer working environment with increased efficiency levels,"said  Don Cox, senior vice president, operations, RSI PCS. "The concepts and details can be replicated at new facilities in new markets to support our national growth strategy.”

The expansion at RSI PCS is the latest in a series of news on the company since parent firm RSI Home Products regained sole ownership in March 2013 and the company's subsequent acquisition of Professional Cabinet Solutions a few months later. Founded in 2003, RSI PCS is a leading supplier of frameless cabinetry to the western United States.
