SHELTON, CT –  Panolam Industries International, a manufacturer of engineered and decorative surfaces, will consolidate operations and make its Auburn, Maine facility its high pressure laminate flagship facility site.

Panolam Moves Laminate Operations to Maine Facility

The consolidation is part of an effort to unlock resource savings, and invest in its business to accelerate future growth. Panolam will close its other HPL manufacturing facility in Hampton, S.C. The South Carolina site is expected to be closed by the end of 2014.

The Auburn plant, which is a newer facility than the South Carolina plant, also houses the company’s resin and digital printing business. The move also provides Panolam tax relief incentives from Maine’s Pine Tree Development Program.

“Panolam is fully focused on how we can best align with and get ahead of the realities of our marketplace and the economy, and continue to innovate and differentiate our Panolam Surface Systems offering,” said Al Kabus, CEO.

Panolam surfaces include the Panolam®, Nevamar® and Pionite® brand names.
