PPG Completes $1 Billion Buy of AkzoNobel Architectural CoatingsPITTSBURGH--PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) finalized the $1.05 billion acquisition of the North American architectural coatings business of Akzo Nobel N.V., the $15 billion coatings business headquartered in Amsterdam.

“With this acquisition, PPG has expanded its reach in all three major North American distribution channels, including home centers, independent paint dealers and company-owned paint stores,"  said Charles E. Bunch, PPG chairman and CEO.

First announced in December 2012, the PPG buy of Akzo Nobel architectural coatings brings to PPG's portfolio of North American brands Glidden, Flood, CIL, Sico and Liquid Nails, extending its PPG Paints, Pittsburgh Paints, Porter Paints, Lucite and Olympic Paints and Stains.  PPG also will license Dulux, Devoe architectural coatings, and Sikkens architectural wood products.

PPG Industries says its vision is to continue to be the world’s leading coatings and specialty products company.
