COMMERCE, CA - Nova LIfeStyle Inc. is constructing a 160,000-square-foot plant in China to produce pigment lacquer furniture to service IKEA customers in Asia.
U.S.-based Nova LifeStyle said the new plant is being adjacent to its furniture manufacturing facility in Dongguan. The plant, which will exclusively supply IKEA, is being touted as a "green facility competitive with any furniture factory in the world." It is scheduled for completion in December and will include Cefla finishing lines, Costa sanders and woodworking equipment from Homag and Biesse.
Jeffrey Wong, CEO of Nova, said, "Being selected to become an IKEA supplier is one of the most exciting developments in our company's history." Wong added that the new plant has the potential to grow the company's revenues by "roughly 80 percent of our current sales."
Nova LifeStyle said the new production facility will conform to IKEA's IWAY, a supplier code of conduct encompassing environmental, societal and working conditions, ranging from chemical use and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to fire prevention, worker health and safety, wages, benefits, working hours, child labor, discrimination, harassment and abuse.
Nova LifeStyle Inc., bills itself as "a fast growing, innovative designer and manufacturer of modern LifeStyle furniture," including sofas, dining rooms and cabinets. Its brands include Diamond Sofa, Colorful World, Giorgia Mobili and others.
