PORTLAND, OR – Neil Kelly Cabinets announced it is the first cabinet manufacturer to produce a Declare-labeled cabinet collection. Similar to a nutrition label, the Declare-label lists the “ingredients” used in each of the building products, making it available for viewing by consumers.
According to the custom cabinet firm, its Naturally Northwest Collection “optimizes indoor air quality and healthful living,” while incorporating no formaldehyde PureBond panels, regionally sourced solid wood and wood veneers, and no formaldehyde, low VOC adhesives and finishes. Neil Kelly Cabinets is also an FSC-certified cabinet manufacturer and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. The sustainable manufacturer produces LEED-compliant cabinetry as well International Living Building Challenge (ILBC) compliant products, which it says led to its earning the Declare label.
“For Neil Kelly Cabinets, Declare is a natural progression for producing the healthiest, most eco-friendly cabinets for consumers,” Neil Kelly Cabinets President Mark Smith said in a statement. “We were first in the U.S. market to offer cabinetry using environmentally friendly, less harmful materials and construction technique. And, we will continue to innovate and lead in this industry.”
He added, “What really excites me about the Declare program is the transparency. With good information, I believe people can make healthier decisions for themselves and the environment. This program has the potential to effect real change in consumer behavior.”
In addition to custom kitchen cabinetry, the company also offers environmentally friendly closet systems.
