ROGUE RIVER, OR -- Murphy Plywood is constructing three buildings totaling approximately 60,000 square feet at its plywood mill in Rogue River.
The expansion will increase the size of the facility by about one-third, KDRV TV reported. The company is also investing in machinery to add value to the plywood it manufactures and is adding a rail spur to improve shipping.
Murphy purchased the dormant 164,000-square-foot plant formerly operated by Panel Processing of Milwaukie, OR, for $3.6 million in Febraury 2010 and reopened it in December 2010. Murphy also operates a hardwood plywood plant in Eugene, OR, and a structural beam plant in Sutherlin, OR.
The company currently employs about 130 workers ini Rogue River.
