Modified Wood Used in Award-Winning Outdoor FurnitureThe Plank Collection of furniture is made with Perennial Wood, developed by Eastman Chemical. When subjected to TruLast Technology at Eastman's plant in Kingsport, TN, the cell structure of southern pine is permanently transformed making it resistant to damage from moisture. T

Eric Pfeiffer, president of Ffeiffer Labs, said, Perennial Wood is a "beautiful, humble material that provides unique aesthetic and performance characteristics not currently available for the outdoor market. We were also impressed by the sustainability story and the fact that this wood is grown and produced here in the USA.”

Derek Chen, CEO of Council based in San Francisco, said, “The idea behind Council has been to create beautiful furniture that speaks to design in the United States. Just as the aesthetics of Italian or Scandinavian furniture are well understood, our mission is to create pieces that will be recognizably American, yet appeal to an international audience. Perennial Wood dovetails nicely with this mission."
