The company redirected its plans to Chicopee after a conflict arose over its intended use of imported European wood window frame machinery.

In moving to Massachusetts, Menck USA received a $5 million tax-exempt bond from MassDevelopment to renovate about 75,000 square feet of a vacant building. The operation is expected to create 50 jobs.

Menck's new facility, scheduled to begin operation this fall, being developed in partnership with Menck-Fenster of Hamburg, Germany, will use state-of-the-art CNC equipment and the same "exacting specifications" used at Menck-Fenster’s production facility in Scherwin, Germany to manufacture  all wood or wood and metal cladding, tilt and turn windows.
