DENVER, CO - Kodiak Building Partners acquired the assets of Gulf & Basco, Inc., a Houston specialty distributor of windows, cabinets, countertops and appliances to homebuilders, repair and remodeling contractors and commercial accounts.

Kodiak CEO Paul Hylbert said Gulf & Basco’s team of 80 people will remain, with Stuart Feldman continuing as the CEO, and the management team remaining in place.

“We’ve been a successful family business," Feldman said in a statement, "but see the need to grow beyond our current distribution footprint." Gulf & Basco was founded in 1937, and distributes cabinets, countertops and windows from a 110,000 square foot facility.

Kodiak and investor partners formed in November 2011 following the recapitilization of a construction materials firm, Barton Supply. Kodiak works says it works to support businesses in the $10-$200 million sales range.
