Wood product businesses come and wood product businesses go. Often times the first few years are the most critical, as a company toils to build a solid customer base. The Great Recession was especially hard on wood products companies. Hopefully if you’ve made it this far out of the economic murk, you can exhale a deep sigh of relief.
How old is your company and what has been your company’s biggest challenge to stay afloat? Even more importantly, how did you meet this challenge?
For example, Buffelen Woodworking, a custom door manufacturer based in Tacoma, WA, is celebrating its 100th year of business. A company spokesman said it has survived the Great Depression and Great Recession by staying "true to our roots of traditional craftsmanship, while embracing the efficiency and precision that modern technology can provide.”
