Imported Bar Stools Under RecallSALT LAKE CITY, UT — Residential furniture importer Intercon Inc. issued a voluntary recall of approximately 2,350 wooden swivel bar stools on May 8, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The products were manufactured in Shandong, China by Gaomi Yatai Wooden Ware.

The Sonoma Valley Swivel Top Bar Stools, both the 24-inch and 30-inch models, were sold at Havertys Furniture stores October 2010 through March 2012, for between $270 and $300. According to the CPSC recall notice, the bolts attaching the top to the leg assembly can come loose, causing the seat to dislodge.

Only one report of loose bolts has been made to date, with no injuries reported.

The affected model numbers SV-BS-760SW-AMR-C24 and SV-BS-760SW-AMR-C30 do not appear on the stools. The chairs are in medium-dark pine and have a slatted backrest, curved armrest, seat padded in cream-colored cloth and four curved legs.

According to the safety notice, Havertys will provide a repair kit and technician to install replacement bolts at no cost. For more information visit Intercon-Furniture.com.
