Details on Oak Shingled VW Car That Topped Week's ReportsA Volkswagen Beetle covered in oak shingles by Momir Bojic, 71, created quite a stir this week at WoodworkingNetwork.com, as it does everywhere he drives it.

The car is made of 50,000 separate pieces of oak. Reuters reports that each of the thousands of shingles - made in the style of local roofs in Bosnia - required 23 steps, including cutting, chamfering, beveling, drilling and smoothing before they were glued on the actual vehicle, which is totally roadworthy. Its dashboard, gear stick, hubcap, radio, and steering wheel were lovingly carved and shaped from solid wood. Even the tail lights have a woven veneer pattern overlayed.
