Updated: Gunman Kills 3 at NC Lumber, Pallet CompanySTAR, NC — A disgruntled employee brandished a gun at Star, NC-based McBride Lumber early Jan. 13, killing three people and critically wounding another before turning the gun on himself.

According to news sources, Ronald Dean Davis of Ether, NC, is accused of firing a shotgun at the pallet and lumber manufacturer. The family-owned company, which has been in business since the 1950s, offers frame-grade oak lumber, dried and green hardwoods for the residential furniture industry, and two-way, four-way, block and wing pallets for the furniture and other industries.

ABC News, WCNC/NewsChannel 36 and AP report that Davis was found in critical condition at his home with a gunshot wound to his head. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, police there also found a six-page note about the shootings. Davis died of his wounds Jan. 14.

NBC17 News listed the names of two of the men killed, Daniel Davis, 32, a cousin of Ronald Davis, and Jose Izquierdo, 25. The name of the other deceased victim has not been released. The condition of the fourth victim, Florentino Aparicio, 21, has been upgraded to stable condition.

Star, North Carolina, is located approximately 60 miles south of Greensboro.
