Georgia-Pacific to Dismantle AL Plywood MillPETERMAN, AL -- Georgia-Pacific Corporation has decided to permanently shutter its plywood mill in Monroe County, an operation that it idled three years ago.

A G-P spokesman confirmed that the plywood plant's buildings will be removed; plans for the land have not been announced.

According to the Associated Press, G-P has gone from having 21 operating plants in the mid 2000s to nine. Seven mills, including the one in Peterman, have been idle.
