AUBURN, WA - General International Mfg. Co., a Montreal-based manufacturer and supplier of woodworking and metalworking machinery, and its subsidiary General International USA have been acquired by DMT Holdings Inc.

General International Acquired by DMT HoldingsThe sale of the General coincides with the announced retirement of co-president Gilles Guerette.

Clifford Rickmers, vice president and COO of DMT Holdings, will oversee operations in both Canada and the U.S. Christian Chénier will continue to serve at General International in Montreal as president and CEO and Scott Box will continue to serve as operations manager at General International USA in Murfreesboro, TN.

The new owner of General plans to inject "fresh capital" to further the six-decade-old company's growth and expand its product lines which include General International, General CNC and Excalibur. The company's brand of products, including boring machines, dovetailers, planers, router tables and table saws are made to it its specifications by overseas' manufacturing partners in Asia, primarily in Taiwan.

General has distributors in 16 countries, including in North America, Asia, Europe and Australia.

General International will exhibit at the International Woodworking Fair (IWF), Aug. 20-23 in Atlanta.
