HUDSON, NC - A flash fire at RPM Wood Finishes' plant in Hudson on Friday, April 13, sent one employee to the hospital and forced the evacuation of the plant's 250 workers.
Fire officials are trying to determine what caused the fire that ignited in the production department at about 2:30 p.m., according to The Hickory Daily Record. The fire was brought under control by the plant's fire response system and extinguished by local fire crews responding to the scene.
Last May 28 the RPM Wood Finishing plant's storage area was rocked by multiple explosions that triggered a massive fire. That fire prompted the evacuation of area homes and destroyed two nearby upholstery furniture plants, according to the newspaper.
The RPM Wood Finishes Group includes Mohawk Finishing Products, Guardian Protective Products and CCI.
