Ethan Allen Furniture Opens 75th Store in China

Ethan Allen Furniture Opens 75th Store in ChinaDANBURY, CT - Ethan Allen Furniture has opened its 75th location in China, an opulent multi-level flagship store in Haikou, the influential capital of Hainan province in China. The store sells U.S. made furniture; most of Ethan Allen's factories are all located in the U.S., where two-thirds of its furniture is produced.

Operated by Markor Home Furnishings, its partner throughout the Chinese market, the 25,000-square-foot design of the store is what Ethan Allen calls its "new generation" retail direction, with a classical façade, and marble-clad interiors throughout. A second "new generation" flagship is planned for Beijing later this year.

"We are taking the retail experience to the next level," said Farooq Kathwari, Ethan Allen CEO and the guest of honor at the white-carpet opening ceremony. "As an American brand, we draw upon influences from all over the world," says Kathwari, "which is one of the many things that continue to keep Ethan Allen so relevant all over the world."

Ethan Allen has found an enthusiastic clientele in China, Kathwari says. "This is a market that cares deeply about quality and has a passion for classic American style. Needless to say, we feel right at home here."

Ethan Allen has been expanding its retail footprint, with 11 new Design Centers in the last year, in key domestic markets like Houston, TX , Las Vegas, NV and Marlton, NJ, and internationally in Dubai, UAE and Doha, Qatar. Thirteen more openings are planned for the next year.

Ethan Allen Furniture reported 2nd quarter net sales of $197.1 million, up 2.1%.
