Composite Panel and TFM Shipments Rise in November

Composite Panel and TFM Shipments Rise in NovemberLEESBURG, VA -- North American composite panel shipments in November totaled 407 MMSF, up by 5% from the same month a year ago, according to data collected and extrapolated by the Composite Panel Association (CPA).

The CPA also reported that November shipments of thermally fused melamine (TFM) panels increased by 10.6% icompared to November 2010.

Particleboard shipments were 243 MMSF (3/4” basis) in November, up 6.4% from last year, with year-to-date shipments down less than 1%. MDF shipments were 135 MMSF (3/4” basis), up 5% from last year and up 1% year-to-date. Hardboard and Engineered Wood Siding and Trim shipments were down 8.3% from the same month one year ago and down 2.7% year-to-date.

Year-to-date composite shipments through November are down less than 1% compared to 2010.

TFM shipments for November were 103 MMSF. Year to date TFM shipments through November are 1,185 MMSF, up less than 1% from 1,175 MMSF in 2010.
