Topping the wood industry news this week was a report from the International Woodworking Fair: the seven 2012 Challengers Award winners were announced Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m., three hours after the show opened - news that always draws intense interest in the woodworking business.

Friday the week before the show, the State of Georgia announced it would no longer support in its own projects any green building standards (read LEED) that weren't open to wood and lumber products certification standards beyond FSC. The governor cited a similar action by Maine in issuing his executive order.
