Amid roaring wood manufacturing improvement is another trend: European investment in the U.S. woodworking industries.
The recent move by German machinery manufacturer Homag to increase its holding in Stiles Machinery was followed this week by Belgium furniture manufacturer, BuzziSpace Inc., investing here. The company's innovative upholstered wood office "cocoons" will be manufactured in High Point, NC, creating 113 jobs.

La-Z-Boy To Sell Its Bauhaus Furniture Division

La-Z-Boy Inc. will sell upholstered furniture maker Bauhaus USA Inc. to an investor group led by Britt Allred, president of Bauhaus. The sale is expected to close in the fourth quarter. La-Z-Boy acquired Bauhaus for $60 million in 1999.
