ARCADIA, WI - Ashley Furniture says some of the top furniture trends in 2013 will include more crossover dining sets, powered recliners and two-toned, high gloss finishes mixed with wood furniture in the bedroom.

With homes moving to one central eating area, Ashley expects to see more crossover looks this year with dressy, yet casual, dining sets, says Brenda Dillon, VP merchandising. Higher-height tables and bar stools, and built-in wine storage, also will be in demand. Servers and cabinets are anticipated to grow with more buffet-style eating in homes.

"Expect to see these furniture trends everywhere," Dillon says.

In living rooms, Ashley predicts a growing casual approach to furniture. Other trends included relaxed design rules with vintage-casual looks, fewer matched sets and  more accent chairs and linen-like fabrics. For TV furniture, power-operated reclining mechanisms and deeper seated sofas will trend upward, the furniture maker says.

Bedroom renovations will be on the rise; a growing casual trend will continue with traditional and nostalgic rustic references mixing with de-cluttered, urban-style simplicity. While two-toned furniture is certainly not a new concept, the trend this year will mix high-gloss surfaces with stained wood finishes to add contrast and a new focal point to a room.

Upholstered beds that don't match the case pieces will add to this casual look. King-sized beds will stay popular, Ashley says, along with TV-friendly bedroom furniture. More white also is expected to be used bedrooms in coastal cottage and modern styles.
