LEWISVILLE, TX - Joseph Gardiner, vice president of national sales for 84 Lumber, was killed in a boating accident on July 7. He was 43.
Gardiner and his wife, Susan, were riding in an 8-foot Kodiak dinghy about a quarter of a mile offshore on Lake Lewisville when gusting winds flipped their boat over and cast them into the water, according to KDWF. Susan Gardiner managed to swim to shore but her husband drowned. Rescuers reportedly found a pair of life vests on board the recovered boat.
According to his Linkedin account, Gardiner joined 84 Lumber as an area manager in 2001 and became vice president of national sales in 2005.
In addition to his wife, Gardiner is survived by two teenage daughters.
