HELSINKI -- Four thousand members of the Wood and Allied Workers' Union reportedly began a strike Friday, October 1, after rejecting a mediation proposal mainly over pay and seniority bonuses.
The work stoppage impacted approximately 40 workplaces, according to YLE. If a settlement is not reach soon, YLE reported that the strike could spread to all sawmills and plywood mills in Finland affiliated with Finnish Forest Industries.
