DANVILLE, KY - Equipment in 3B Inc.'s highly automated cabinet door and wood components factory is being sold by Hilco Industrial. Opened in 2005 by 3B S.p.A. of Italy, the plant boasts state-of-the-art panel materials handling systems, as well as the latest generation machining systems and thermofoil laminating lines for wood panels.
When the plant launched, five-year tax exemptions were provided by city, county and state bodies. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority waived state taxes, valued at $1.4 million; the county waived property taxes and corporate taxes; and the City of Danville, KY provided a five-year exemption on property taxes.
3B S.p.A. pledged to invest $17 million in the operation with a target of creating 100 full-time jobs in two years. 3B Italy produces cabinet doors, and furniture panels, and says it was the first company in the world to produce PVC doors with MDF and chipboard core.
3B says its patented system 2,5D and employing a membrane press in 3D, has made it a worldwide leader in thermofoil coated doors, and that the process develops zero emissions. Hilco says the sales is being conducted in partnership with Stiles Machinery, Inc.
