KENNER, LA - New design values for Southern Pine are effective as of June 1. According to Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA), these design values apply only to new construction, which means structures built under the old design values won't be affected.

“Everyone should be using the new design values now that the effective date is upon us,” says Cathy Kaake, SFPA’s vice president of technical marketing. “Look for the New Design Values logo on SFPA’s publications to make sure you have the current information on Southern Pine lumber products,” added Cathy.

To make it easy to reference these changes, SFPA has come out with a new pocket span card that sums up the new design values in 12 abbreviated tables.
