HANNOVER, GERMANY - Weinig AG, a maker of solid wood processing machines and systems, said it sold 160 wood manufacturing machines and systems at LIGNA 2013, the timber and woodworking event that ran in Hannover, Germany May 6-10.

With higher attendance at this year's event by foreign visitors, Weinig says it got a boost in sales, which exceeded the results from 2011 LIGNA. Higher demand from Eastern Europe, particularly Russia, as well as North America, help spur the positive results, Weinig says.

Holz-Her, the panel processing division of the Weinig Group, also recorded a significant increase in orders compared with the 2011 LIGNA.

Weinig said its fully-automatic, networked, high-speed pre-cutting system was well received. The system combines the new 2D-optimizing software, intelligent optimizing saws and integrated scanner technology for a production line with maximum wood recovery and yield. Also popular was its Conturex technology with patented clampng table, Weinig said. The system is used for window and door production; Weinig says its performance gain is around 20% over previous systems, whether in single-batch or series production.
