Hancock Timber CEO Joins SFI BoardWASHINGTON, DC — Hancock Timber Resource Group president Daniel Christensen has joined  the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (SFI) board of directors.

Christensen, who is also CEO of Hancock Natural Resource Group, has more than 35 years of forestry and investment experience. SFI CEO Kathy Abusow cited Christensen's practical experience in international timber markets and issues, in announcing the appointment.

“His vast expertise is critical to ensuring forestry communities remain economically viable, environmentally responsible and globally competitive,” Abusow said.

Christensen manages Hancock Natural Resource Group's investments in timberland and farmland and is responsible for the forest management of Hancock Timber’s extensive global timberland portfolio. In July, Hancock Timber acquired 1.35 million additional acres of timberland in four states. He has a B.S. in Forest Engineering from the University of Maine's College of Natural Resources, Forestry and Agriculture.
