JASPER, IN — National Office Furniture, a brand unit of Kimball Intl Inc., announced that its Dallas showroom has attained LEED Gold and its Escalade casegoods has also earned BIFMA level 3 certification for sustainability.
The showroom, located in the Dallas Decorative Center, is the office furniture manufacturer’s sixth LEED-certified facility.
National Office Furniture partnered with PageSoutherlandPage for design services, MEP, structural and LEED project management in earning the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED-CI Gold. In addition to using low emitting materials and those with a high recycled content, the company said efficient lighting decreased energy use 53 percent below the standard and it estimates a 35 percent reduction in water use through the use of low flow water fixtures.
National Office Furniture also announced its Escalade casegoods now feature the company’s proprietary water-based UV finish, IntegraClear, enabling the series to achieve SCS Indoor Advantage certification for meeting strict indoor air quality criteria. The series has also been awarded ANSI/BIFMA level 3 certification which can contribute toward LEED points. All of National Office’s company-manufactured products are certified either level 2 or 3.
“From our people and transportation to facilities and product, sustainability is at the core of our business. We’re proud to provide the marketplace with more level 3 contract furniture choices to make it easy to not only specify green product, but a responsible manufacturer too,” said Mendy Claridge, Sustainable and Technical Product Solutions Manager, LEED AP ID+C, National Office Furniture.
