WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall of 11,400 Alexander Design Ltd. brand drop-side cribs sold exclusively at J.C. Penney.

The cribs were manufactured in China by Jardine Enterprises Ltd. of Taipei, Taiwan.

CPSC said the drop-side rail hardware on the cribs can break or fail, allowing the drop side to detach from the crib. potentially creating a hazardous gap in which infants and toddler can become wedged or entrapped.

Other models of Jardine drop-side cribs were recalled for repair on June 24.

CPSC said it has received two reports of incidents involving drop-side malfunctions on Alexander Designs drop-side cribs.  No injuries were reported.
