MCCLEARY, WA – Simpson Door Company's Nantucket Collection, which was named Window & Door magazine’s “Most Innovative Door” in 2011, is growing with the addition of douglas fir and sapele mahogany wood species.

The ribbon grain and reddish-brown color of the new sapele mahogany doors and the tight, vertical grain of the douglas fir options, join the Nantucket collection's existing options of black locust and nootka cypress.

Noted for a combination of historic charm and modern technology, the two-piece doors feature laminated stile and rail construction with modified mortise-and-tenon joinery. Face-driven, black locust pins secure the tenons while also providing an historic, craftworthy aesthetic.

Sapele mahogany, black locust and nootka cypress doors in the Nantucket Collection are made to endure demanding climates, coming with a 10-year limited warranty. Nantucket doors and Douglas Fir have a 5-year warranty.

Nantucket Collection doors have had a great reception among homeowners, builders and architects,” said Brad Loveless, Marketing and Product Development manager for Simpson Door Company.

“They increase the applications for which beautiful, natural wood doors can be used, as they don’t require an overhang to maintain their warranty, and are designed to last. The way they are constructed simply makes a better performing door. With these new, more common wood species we’re able to offer the Nantucket collection to a wider range of tastes and budgets.”
