Massuni, Customizeable Furniture Makers, Tap Internet for Funding The crowdfunding project on Kickstarter.com is seeking a minimum of $75,000 from supporters. At the time of this writing the company had raised $3,592. Those who donate certain amounts of money will receive a credit to design some Massuni furniture. Depending on the credit, designs supporters can select from include nightstands, cabinets and bookcases. The crowdfunding campaign will end in November and, if funded, the new website and design tool will be open to early users, including Kickstarter supporters, by February of 2015.

The planned “intuitive configurator” will allow customers “to easily create unique furniture that fits their individual needs,” says the Massuni site. The company was launched by Verso Furniture, Shelburne, Ontario. Users will have full control of the dimensions. Each piece of furniture can be restyled by choosing materials, finishes, trim, door designs, and hardware, and the product can be entirely reconfigured by adding and subtracting cupboards, drawers, and shelf spaces.

At any time during the design process, users are able to generate a “high quality rendering” that “realistically depicts” the finished item. An updated price is also shown in real time as changes are made.

"Our innovative technology and factory processes give designers and homeowners access to easy and affordable customization," said Jeff Wilson, CEO and founder of Massuni.
