Knapke Cabinets Moves Into Construction ServicesCENTERVILLE, OH - Knapke Cabinets has started Knapke Construction Services, an extension of its Centerville, OH cabinetry and remodeling services.

Designer and project manager Bernie Knapke says the construction side of the business provides basement remodeling and finishing, interior door and trim replacement, wood and tile floor replacement, window replacements, and some outdoor remodels. Homeowners remodeling to remain in their homes, and especially retirees staying put (so-called "aging in place" owners) make up most of the business, Knapke says.

The four-employee company was founded 20 years ago, and acquired by Cabinet Enterprises from the Knapke family in February 2011. Cabinet Enterprises filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2011, and the business was reconstituted afterward.

Knapke told the Dayton Business Journal this week that Knapke Cabinets may add four said the company of four will probably add two to four employees in the next 12 months to handle the increased business he expects from the new marketing push.

He said a bulk of his business comes from people who decide to stay in a house and fix it up instead of trying to sell and buying a new house, especially retirees.

“We see our business growing more and more towards remodeling,” he told the Journal.
