Cabinet Firm Cited for Wood Dust, Safety HazardsBELTON, TX – Carmen Creative Cabinets was cited by OSHA for 32 safety and health violations, including combustible wood dust and amputations from ungarded saws. Proposed penalties total approximately $64,800.

“By failing to find and fix workplace hazards, this employer is exposing workers to possible injuries or much worse," said Casey Perkins, OSHA’s area director in Austin, TX. "The lack of machine guarding and the accumulation of combustible dust are obvious hazards that Carmen Creative Cabinets should have addressed.”

Carmen Creative Cabinets, a kitchen and bath cabinet manufacter, employs about 30 workers. The company has 15 business days from receipt of the citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s Austin Area Office, or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
