OCEANSIDE, CA -- After three years of remodeling Mariott Hotels Springhill Suites in Oceanside, CA is highlighted by Accoya treated wood siding.

Accoya Siding Used to Renovate Marriott HotelThe modified wood is manufactured by Accsys Technologies through its acetylation process. Wood acetylation is a process which increases the amount of 'acetyl' molecules in wood, thereby changing its physical properties. The process protects wood from rot by making it "inedible" to most micro-organisms and fungi. Accoya is a wood product which is Cradle to Cradle Gold certified. It has a variety of uses from millwork to external siding, structural projects and decking.

The renovation at the Marriott took more than three years and 60 million cubic feet of Accoya siding. Accoya was also used to add accent to the façade, for balcony railings, Porte Cochere lattice, patio shading structures and trellises and, remarkably, for siding around the hotel’s fireplace.

“Accoya is increasingly being used on projects such as this and we’re pleased that… architects and specifiers are choosing the sustainable option, as Accoya is carbon negative in window frames,” says Bryan Crennell, director of sales and marketing at Accsys Technologies.
