MONTREAL, CANADA -- High speed and luxury go hand-in-hand with the launch of a new themed, metal garage cabinet collection from Montreal-based Contur Cabinet.
The garage cabinet manufacturer is set to introduce a Porsche-inspired special edition cabinet line this fall. Based on the iconic Porsche RS series, the RS Edition will reflect the famous car brand with features such as bright red racing stripes on the base cabinet door faces, red-trimmed pull handles and cabinet legs as well as white-stitched red nylon pull-down straps for the overhead swing-up doors.
The RS logo is also silk-screened onto the overhead door panels. For an added special touch, an actual metal VIN number plate with a factory production number is riveted directly onto the cabinet chassis. A personalized VIN number plate with custom numbering is also available.
The cross-branding of garage cabinet lines and popular automotive and related brands is a growing trend in the industry, notes Andy Evangelidis, President of Contur Cabinet.
“We wanted to create the same passion that exists between individual and sports car, but with a cabinet," he adds. “One example of many details is the nylon pull-down strap. In order to save weight on the sports car, nylon straps were used to close the doors in lieu of heavier metal handles and linkages. We’ve re-created this same strap for closing our overhead doors, right down to the white cross-stitching.”
Evangelidis says Contur plans to launch two more themed sets at the beginning of 2015. "One theme is based on a classic American sports car and the other, on a motorcycle," he says.
Contur Cabinet launched its line of all-metal, modular, colorful garage storage cabinets in June 2012. The company officially opened in February of 2010 and showcased its new cabinet prototypes at the 2011 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association show (SEMA). Its modular cabinets features European styling and all-metal construction with a patent-pending feature on its doors allowing for a front panel to “float” on a foam core, reducing dings and dents. Additional features include cabinet doors that swing up.
