SOMERSET, NJ -- Design winners were celebrated at the 2014 Cabinets & Closets Gala Awards reception, held April 9 at the Hotel Somerset-Bridgewater in Somerset, NJ, during the Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo. The design awards presentation was sponsored by Richelieu Hardware.

Winners from the Closets Top Shelf Design Awards (see full list of winners below), Custom Woodworking Business Design Portfolio and Timber Products' BEST Kitchen Design Contest were on hand to accept their awards. In its debut, BEST Kitchen Design awarded Kelvin Brown of Integrity Trim Works, LLC, as its top winner. Representatives from Bespoke, Larchwood, IA; Mike Lucci Cabinets, Monaco, PA and Interior Woodworks, Bismarck, ND, 2013 Design Portfolio winners, were all a part of the evening's festivities.

For the second year in a row, designer DeVoe Martin, Affordable Closets Plus, Bangor, PA, picked up the Overall Winner Top Shelf Design Award with his “Unique Dressing Room Going Up or Going Down” project.

This one-of-a-kind dressing room, originally a three-car garage, is now a two-car garage with the third bay transformed into a 22’ x 11’ dressing room, which includes a pneumatic vacuum elevator (37 x 37 in diameter) that goes up to the master bedroom. There is also a secret cabinet door in the dressing room that leads right to the garage.

Designers Debbie Cantrell, Closets By Design VA, Manassas VA, and Anthony Scaletta, Encore Garage, East Dundee, IL, both past Top Shelf Design winners, picked up two awards in this year's contest.
