Franklin Adhesives & Polymers introduces Quickset 1000 FR, designed for use in the manufacture of office furniture and installation of acoustic panels. The product can be used for bonding HPL to particleboard and fiberboards and for installing accoustic panels on walls and ceilings. Quickset 1000 FR has achieved both MBDC certification and fire rating and is a PVA emulsion adhesive that meets the requirements of MBDC’s Cradle-to-Cradle Certified program for safety to humans and the environment and design for future life cycles. Certified products are eligible for LEED points as an Environmentally Preferable Materials in USGBC’s LEED for Homes Rating System; under the Innovation in Design category in all LEED rating systems; and under the Pilot Credit 43: Certified Products in all LEED rating systems. Furniture manufacturers, specifically, can use the program’s toxicity assessment toward the BIFMA level certification for sustainability, adds Franklin. Quickset 1000 FR also passes UL723 and ASTM E84 testing for surface burning characteristics of building materials. Quickset 1000 FR is fast and easy to use, says the company. Although flexibility and good initial tack make it ideal for nip role operations, it also can be cold pressed, says Franklin. Its one-component, water-based PVA formulation requires no mixing before application and users can easily clean it when wet with warm water.
