Spur Center Safety Guard

RIkon Power Tools introduces the new Badger Safety Spur Center Model 70-940, designed by Big Tree Tools, manufactured and sold by Rikon. The patent-pending lathe drive center features a safety guard, designed to  prevent loose clothing, hair and jewelry from becoming entangled with the spurs. It also prevents accidental contact with the spurs or prevents touching the spurs with a chisel or the tool rest. The spring-loaded center point is engineered to allow over 3/8” (10mm) of travel. This allows easy loading, unloading, reversing end-for-end, or stopping of the work piece for inspection while the lathe spindle is in motion. It also features an accurate concentric center point, says the company. Users can remove the work piece and replace it or reverse it end for end and the work piece will return to precise concentricity. It has wide spurs so that the Badger spur center will accommodate a wide range of work piece diameters, down to 1/2” (13mm). The 60 degree cone center point is keyed and locked into the body of the spur center. The spurs are designed with a large surface area in the axial plane, parallel to the grain of the wood and are sharp as a chisel, adds Rikon. MSRP is $79.99.
