Applications for Guhdo’s Helical Insert Cutter (4339.800.30) include trimming, jointing, rebating, hogging and copying operations on solid wood as well as composite materials, says the company. It is designed for use on all CNC machining centers and has a maximum rpm of 18,000. It has an 80mm diameter x 80mm cut length with a 30mm arbor and 8 x 2mm keyway and has one spacer. The HSK or ISO/SK tool holder is sold separately. Special sizes can be manufactured, says the company. The cutter body is made of a high quality, light metal alloy, says Guhdo, with a hard-anodized surface and convex ground reversible insert knives designed to provide an excellent surface finish. The insert tips overlap 75 percent of the cutting surface, adds Guhdo, which provides an effective 3 wing design. The bottom of the cutter has two reversible spurs for clean corners on rebate cuts and the bottom of the cutter is recessed to accommodate the retaining screw so that the cutter cuts flush on the bottom. The cutter is also an option for pre-cutting arches in window production and for use in stair production.
