CENTRE FOR ADVANCED WOOD
The Centre for Advanced Wood Processing is Canada's national centre for education and training related to wood products processing and advanced wood products manufacturing. CAWP offers a wide range of short courses, e-learning programs, in-plant training, product development and manufacturing improvement services. We also conduct and coordinate applied R&D and assist industry to employ students in the Wood Products Processing cooperative education program.
Planit is a leading developer of software products servicing the woodworking, stone and metal fabrication industries. Our products help companies who design and manufacture goods such as casegoods and countertops for homes, offices, schools and hospitals, as well as metalworking industries, making aircraft, appliances, ships, and a wide variety of sheet metal products. Products include Alphacam, Cabinet Vision, Cabnetware and s2m Center.
Since 2002, the Wood Manufacturing Council (WMC) has collaborated with employers, workers, educators, professional associations and government to help implement human resources solutions that will ensure the success of the advanced wood manufacturing sector. The WMC's mandate is to plan, develop and implement human resources strategies that support the long-term growth and competitiveness of Canada's advanced wood products manufacturing industry and meet the developmental needs of its workforce. The Council identifies and examines the necessary skills and knowledge required to respond to changing industry needs. The Council also develops an overall strategic plan to address key issues such as the shortage of skilled workers and the need for national standards for worker competencies.
Woodworking Network is a division of Vance Publishing Corp., which is also affiliated with Vance Communications Canada, organizer of Wood Tech Summit and the biennial Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo (WMS) scheduled for Nov. 5-7, 2015 at the International Centre in Toronto.
