I accidentally put wood conditioner for oil-based stains on something I plan to fnish with a water-based stain. I had done a test piece in the same way (without realizing the problem) and it worked, but I'm nervous now that I'm working on the real product. The wood is Southern yellow pine and I made a vinegar/steel wool solution that I really like. I had let the wood conditioner dry for a day, so perhaps that is why it worked?
