If you are in the Eastern New York State area, come meet fellow custom woodworkers and cabinetmakers on Friday, May 11, at Taghkanic Woodworking for an informative session.
Taghkanic will host a day-long event focusing on automating a small woodworking shop. CMA members sponsors Federated Insurance, Omnitech Systems, Exodus Software, Cabinet Vision/Planit Software and Timbercraft Custom Dovetail Drawers will be there for the Eastern New York Regional Event.
This full day event is part of the CMA's own Professional Certification Program. The event will be held at Taghkanic Woodworking, a CMA member shop in Pawling, NY. Pawling is about 45 minutes Northeast of the Westchester County Airport in White Plains near the Connecticut border.
Our host, Leland Thomasset has a full day planned with informative talks and demonstrations from industry professionals on automating the small woodworking shop. Leland is a member of both the CMA Speakers Bureau and Leadership Council, and was on the development committee for the CMA’s Professional Certification Program.
In my dual roles as CMA Speakers Bureau member and CMA executive director I will come from headquarters in Milwaukee, WI to to present a talk with a Q&A session about how shop owners and senior managers can benefit from enrolling in the program. See a video below that talks about the CMA and its programs.
Two seminars for small to mid-sized woodworking shops will be presented for the featured educational sessions for the day. Mike Russell of Federated Insurance, a CMA Platinum Associate Member and sponsor will present a session titled “Insurance 101: Controlling Your Business Insurance Costs” as his CMA CEU accredited educational session. Leland will also present a fully accredited CMA CEU session entitled "CNC Basics".
This seminar covers almost every consideration in bringing a CNC machine into a woodworking shop from infrastructure necessary, to software, to tooling, to fixturing and maintenance. In addition, other CMA sponsors will provide informative, educational formal presentations that detail their parts in providing automation for any sized shop. Ample time for discussion and questions will follow each presentation. Plus there will drawings for several outstanding door prizes and other give-aways throughout the day. Food and drink will be on site, and are included in your admission fees.
