Entrants in Custom Woodworking Business Design Portfolio Awards competition impressed the judges with their complex designs and expert craftsmanship. Top Honors went to seven companies and 17 companies were awarded Honorable Mention.

Earlier this year, Joe Knobbe was voted in as president of the Cabinet Makers Association. Knobbe, senior project manager of Exclusive Woodworking Inc. of Waukegan, IL, recently shared his thoughts on the current and future economic climate and CMA’s goals for the coming year with Custom Woodworking Business.

As the Cabinet Makers Association enters its 13th year, we can say we’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings. Our founding group of small shop owners met in a hotel room in Chicago, determined to create an organization that would be THE place where small to mid-sized shop owners could meet and exchange ideas and information to help each other grow their individual businesses. And that very basic premise is still what we practice today.
