Prima Finishing System, first shown at the 2012 International Woodworking Fair by Cefla Finishing Group, is a reciprocating spray system featuring automated technology in a format and scale that can fit a small- or medium-sized woodworking shop.

Prima reciprocating sprayers are compatible with water- or solvent-based coatings with a paper-covered conveyor. The system also enables a custom shop to easily switch from manual application to automation.

It can handle up to 7,500 square feet of material per eight-hour shift and panels up to 1,300mm wide. Its conveyor offers variable speeds from three to ten feet per minute, providing greater flexibility in handling varying part sizes and speeds.

The oscillating spray system can be equipped with up to four spray guns, allowing it to reach efficiently into contours. The flat conveyor system helps eliminate overspray on the underside of panels.

Rather than a continuous revolving conveyor belt, the sprayer uses a paper conveyor. This disposable paper “belt” makes it a “self-cleaning” machine, reducing maintenance requirements. The paper conveyor provides for consistent edge coating without overspray reaching panel undersides. An externally loaded paper roll is easily accessible for replacements.

The Prima control panel includes an automated part detection system to communicate panel size and position, greatly enhancing production speed and reducing coatings waste. A 6-inch touch-screen accepts programming, and also features real-time diagnostics of production speed and output.
